Politicians came from on high Washington DC to explain to us how grateful we should be about proposed changes in health care and were shocked (!) to find out that the bourgeoisie are not impressed. Cue annoyed AARP spokesperson, snarky Gibbs and a mystified press. Screenplay anyone?
I’m not surprised that Democrats don’t value free speech. Why would they? They above all are statists, just like many of the Republicans on a National level. What will be interesting to see is if the widespread anger will amount to anything. If the Democrats stick together, they can pass the bill, but it will be at the expense of the next election.

The one glimmer of realism he displayed was when he recently told an audience in Montana that, with regard to health care, he was “not in favour of the British system”. Perhaps he had just seen the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics revealing that more than 30,000 people have died in England and Wales from hospital infections in just five years. Translated proportionately into American demographics, that would be 150,000 fatalities. Not the best advertisement for socialised health care.
And this from a British guy. You have rationing, wait lines and lack of supply in Canada, deaths and skyrocketing costs in Britain and substandard care in the rest of Europe. Proponents here use the Post Office as their example… What could go wrong?
