While Rach’ obviously has a problem with asking voters to produce any sort of ID on election day, she expresses confusion over the acceptance of concealed weapons permits in addition to driver’s licenses and state IDs.  Drivers licenses, state issued IDs, and concealed permits all have two main things in common: issuance by the state and containing a photo ID.  The purpose for their existence has nothing to do with anything at all.

How about Montana?  Well…

As per Montana Code Annotated 13-13-114

13-13-114. Voter identification and marking precinct register book before elector votes — provisional voting. (1) (a) Before an elector is permitted to receive a ballot or vote, the elector shall present to an election judge a current photo identification showing the elector’s name. If the elector does not present photo identification, including but not limited to a valid driver’s license, a school district or postsecondary education photo identification, or a tribal photo identification, the elector shall present a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, notice of confirmation of voter registration issued pursuant to 13-2-207, government check, or other government document that shows the elector’s name and current address.

I’m not from Texas, but I’d bet green-money that a Concealed Weapons Permit issued by the State of Texas would be considered a state issued document. I’m just sayin’.

I find it ironic that the “old guard” of the Progressive movement is pissed at what went down in the capitol. These kids are doing exactly what they’ve been taught. Film, music and literature regarding the progressive movement of the 1960s has shown clearly how to “get things done”, when dealing with “The Man” or “The Establishment”.  Progs are artsy, don’tcha know?!  Every word of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, every frame of Easy Rider, every note from Joan Baez leads up to this moment in time. This was their moment. They were not gonna back down. They were gonna stand up…and, ummm…climb on a table…yeah…and dance to rag-time!!1! RAAAWWWWWWR!! FIGHT THE POWER!!!!111!!1!

These kids voted for Hope AND Change, and they’re not happy with the speed at which the “Change” is occurring.  So they’re taking matters into their own hands. INITIATIVE FTW!!1!

All societal standards and social norms are out the window when it comes to Progressives.  This is what the Old Guard has forgotten.  They may have grown up and discovered some adult habits and political skills, but the younger crowd is trying get noticed- reality be damned!!1!  Whether it be the dirty-assed, “we-can-smell-you-coming-from-15-yards-away” hippies or the limp-wristed, skinny-jean wearing, ironic mustache sporting hipster; hippies do what they wanna do. You squares can go back to your square lives…they’re trying to shake up the system, maaaaaan.

Oh yeah, by the way, The USA Today has picked-up on the story….the cop on the right looks like he’s trying to deal with crying 4-year-olds.  Pretty sweet, eh?!

Anyway…what was I talking about…oh yeah, that’s right, the update:

`A vote on a bill sponsored by Rep. Kris Hansen, R-Havre, effectively overturning a Missoula ordinance prohibiting discriminating against gays, has raised a firestorm.

The battle has included threats that have been turned over to law enforcement.

Hansen told the Havre Daily News Wednesday that she has received numerous threatening e-mails regarding her bill, which passed the House 62-37 and has been transmitted to the Senate.

“Two of them were so threatening that the House sergeant-at-arms turned them over to the Helena police for follow-up investigation,” she said.

One comment on the Internet was by Rep. Ellie Hill, D-Missoula. After she tweeted, “Nobody can out grassroot organize Missoulians. Your days are numbered, Rep. Hansen. It’s on,” some cried foul, saying in these days of politically correct rhetoric that kind of comment should not be made.

A tweet on the MontanaGOP twitter site compared Hill’s words to Rep. Denny Rehberg’s comment about placing judges on the endangered species list.

“You jumped all over Rehberg. Payback is hell. Why did you delete the tweet if you’re so proud of it?” is asked on a twitpic page listing Hill’s comment, linked to by the tweet on the GOP page.
